A Dog Under the Desk Reduces Office Stress

Last month, the International Journal of Workplace Health Management published results of a study conducted by Virginia Commonwealth University on the effect of pets in the workplace. A company in North Carolina with more than 500 employees allows 30 pet dogs on the premises every day. The company found that the presence of these animals reduced workplace stress for their owners, and increased morale for those who came in contact with the dogs.

Stress is a big problem in the workplace. It leads to missed work days, low morale, and decreased productivity. Allowing employees to bring their pets to work with them is a simple and inexpensive way for management to make the office a happier place for their employees. And if the presence of animals makes a workplace happier, it’s no wonder that we at Willard Vet love coming to work so much!
