What to expect
When you are in search for a new veterinarian you should check around to see which practice will best suit you and your pet’s needs. Here are some questions that you should be asking.
Are the hours convenient to my schedule?
At Willard Veterinary Clinic we see appointments from 9:00am to 8:30 pm Monday through Thursday and on Friday and Saturday from 9:00am to 4:30pm. Being open most nights and Saturdays allows the working family to receive veterinary care for their pet without taking valuable time off of work.
How many appointments do you see in one hour?
Some practices will see as many as 10 patients an hour. As this is not the norm, most practices will usually see 3-6 appointments per hour. We at Willard Veterinary feel that to give the best possible medical care, we see no more than three patients an hour. We pride ourselves on our ability to take a complete medical history and give one of the most thorough physical exams in the area so that in many instances we can zero in on your pets needs.
What vaccines does my pet need?
We tailor vaccinations to meet your pets’ lifestyle, weighing risks and benefits. We follow the recommendations of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the American Association of Animal Hospitals (AAHA). We use the safest combinations possible and try to minimize the risks of reactions or side effects.
What type of vaccines do you use?
Over the years, we at Willard Veterinary Clinic have had experience with most available vaccines. The current vaccines that we use have proven to be the safest and most efficacious vaccines available and cause the least amount of vaccine related reactions while giving the most immunity. These vaccines often cost a little bit more but when we weigh the cost against the benefit, most clients would agree that the safety of their pet is the most important issue.
What do I do when my pet is sick?
We are capable of handling routine problems on a daily basis. At Willard Veterinary Clinic we leave several appointment slots open each day for just such instances. However for some catastrophic emergencies such as being hit by a car, (with your pets best interests in mind), we will sometimes refer you to one of the many larger animal hospitals in the area. Whichever hospital you decide to go to of the many that we refer to, we will fax your records to them so they will be aware of your pet’s current health. In these instances, please call us so that we can advise you of your options and we’ll do whatever we can to make your time of distress easier.
How much experience do the doctors have?
Our three doctors have a total combined experience of more than 50 years in veterinary medicine. When you become a client, we try to schedule your pet’s appointments so that you will meet each of our doctors. This is done so that you will be familiar and comfortable with each member of our medical staff. If you decide that you like a particular veterinarian, we will try to schedule your future appointments with that doctor, although due to scheduling situations that may not always be possible.
What do your services cost?
We are well aware of what other practices charge in the area
and we find our practice not to be the cheapest and we are not the most
expensive either. We concentrate on
value as opposed to price. In order to
offer quality medical care and advice, it is necessary to spend quality time
with each client. Coupled with a medical
plan catered to each individual pet’s needs, you can be assured that you will
not be spending your money for unneeded goods or services. We also have no hidden costs like disposable waste fees and new client record charges that many veterinary hospitals charge.
Although we are not as inexpensive as the spay clinics, we approach each surgical procedure on an individual basis. We never do assembly line surgeries and when we quote a price it is supported by a written estimate and there are no hidden additional costs such as anesthesia, hospitalization, nursing care or hazardous waste disposal fees.
